Hi there! Welcome to the Friends 4 Food Project!
During the holidays, I always try to do something "big" to help out those in need. Usually its just donating a months profits from my store or something similar. This year, I wanted to take it to a bigger scale so I thought I would offer a goodie box of crafting goodness to give away to one lucky person on my blog.
To enter all they would need to do, is go out and donate some food to their local food bank, and then BLOG about it on their blog. In their blog post, I wanted them to mention my blog contest. This helps gets the word out about our contest AND gets more people thinking about donating some food.
When I told my dear husband of my plan, he jokingly said "You should get your friends to give you stuff for the box too. More stuff makes it more worth winning." He really was kidding, he doesn't get the whole "craft" thing. But joking aside, I thought it was a fantastic idea! So that's exactly what I did.
I sent out an email to all my friends. Well, not all. But I did send one to the people I thought might be interested in donating a little something to the goodie box. Nearly ALL of them have! And as word is getting out, more and more people are offering to send me things for our goodie box!
And so, the Friends 4 Food Project was born.
Who we are:
We are just a group of friends, hoping to entice you to donate some food to your local food bank over the holiday season.
The Goal:
To get as many people to donate to their local food banks as we can. Imagine, food banks all over the WORLD getting a little something extra this holiday season.
The Contest:
This years contest is pretty simple. Donate to your local food bank enter to win huge goodie box of crafty goodness!
How to Enter:
Now this is the IMPORTANT PART. To enter is really simple. Donate to your local food bank. Then come home and blog about it. Somewhere in your post, mention this contest and LINK to THIS POST. That's it. You'll be entered to win. Once you link to us, you will be listed on technorati as referring to us. On Dec 25th, I will randomly pick one linker to win the goodie box! {I will be making sure the winning post mentions their donation. } Please make sure your email address is somewhere easy to find on your blog!

We have a food bank - Mustard Seed - here that I regularly donate to, with the holiday season being no exception. One of the things I have done for several years is to have a pantry cleaning day. About every 6 months or so, I clean out the pantry of the canned / package items that have been sitting. All of these items get sent to Mustard Seed.
One of the main program that Mustard Seed has is the annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the community. They feed up to 6000 people each, and they expect it to be 8000 this year.
They collect food for the dinner and have the locate church prepare the food, but desserts is always something they never have enough of.
This year our group decided to do a cookie drive to help with the desserts. We collected quite a few packages of cookies for the dinner.
